No Nasal Flu Vaccine This Year

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) announced in June that it will recommend that nasal flu vaccine not be used in 2016-2017. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made a similar announcement a few days earlier. These actions were taken in response to evidence that the nasal vaccine is significantly less effective than the injectable one.

Bloomington Pediatrics and Allergy follows the immunization recommendations and guidelines of the AAP, so we will provide only the injectable vaccine for our patients and staff during the upcoming "flu season". This vaccine usually becomes available at the end of August.
